Prevent Harassment, Encourage Leadership

Prevent Harassment, Encourage Leadership

Prevent Harassment, Encourage Leadership

We’re not sure why people call it “Sexual Harassment Training,” since we’re not training employees to sexually harass each other!

We provide Sexual Harassment and Abusive Conduct PREVENTION Training for you and your staff in accordance with California law. But wait! This training is not only for companies in California. The following states require this training:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Illinois, including Chicago
  • Maine
  • Massachusetts
  • New York, including New York City
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington

We use California law as the foundation of our training, because California has the strictest concepts to cover (see below). This means if you are in New York or anywhere else, you’ll be fully compliant in your state, since the content in this training covers pretty much everything you’ll need to know!

Did you know if you have five or more employees in California, you’re required to do a one-hour sexual-harassment training for your nonsupervisory employees and two hours for your supervisory employees? We know what you’re thinking: How are we going to do that?

Don’t worry. We’ve got you.

We offer prevention training both inperson and online — and in Spanish! Plus, we’re funny, and we’ll be as entertaining as sexual harassment prevention training can be.

California Requirements: The Strictest of the Strict

ALL employees, supervisors and non-supervisors must receive sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training within six months of hire.Employees must be trained once every two years. Some requirements to note:

  • Temp employees: For a temporary employee (an employee who is scheduled to work less than six months), the training needs to be done within 30 days of hire.
  • Duration: Supervisors must receive a two-hour training, while non-supervisors must receive a one-hour training.
  • Content: Training must include information and practical guidance regarding federal and state law concerning the prohibition against, and the prevention and correction of, sexual harassment and the remedies available to victims of sexual harassment. The training must also include practical examples of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, as well as information about preventing abusive conduct and harassment based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

The training must be interactive, which means it must be one of the following:

  • An in-person classroom environment where the employee has access to the trainer for questions regarding the content
  • Webinar training that’s an internet-based seminar whose content is created and taught by a trainer and transmitted over the internet or intranet in realtime
  • e-learning/computer-based training created by a trainer and an instructional designer that includes a link or directions on how to contact a trainer who shall be available to answer questions.
